Darren Creed

Darren works from his studio in Paekakariki, north of Wellington.

In the past he has worked with Bill Matheson on the West coast who introduced him to Argillite and Michael Ayling who taught him about silversmithing, bone, ivory and resin.
These days Darren works mostly with Pounamu, silver and resin; his Pounamu techniques are self-taught.

“Jewellery is to me a very simple thing. I work more instinctively using the principles of the Golden mean; using simple shapes and perspective to create balance to enhance the materials natural beauty.”
